DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Custodial Worker 1, you will perform general and deep cleaning duties throughout the facility including resident rooms, nurse stations, offices and common areas. You will sweep, mop and wax floors; dust furniture, blinds, and light fixtures; clean windows, handrails, water fountains, and wheelchairs; clean and sanitize restrooms, empty trash and recycling, including infectious waste; and move furniture. Additionally, you will clear the sidewalks and the facility perimeter of debris, including snow.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, rotating days and every other weekend, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirement:

  • No previous experience and training required.

Additional Requirements:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.


Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Willingness to work in Chester County, Pennsylvania
  • Willingness to work full time
  • Willingness to work first shift
  • Experience working in an assisted living facility, nursing home, or hospital
  • Experience interacting with patients or residents
  • Experience cleaning bodily fluids or infectious waste
  • Experience clearing sidewalks and entrances of snow and debris
  • Experience mixing solvents and chemicals
  • Experience using manual or electrical cleaning equipment
  • Work experience as a custodian, janitor, or cleaning person in an assisted living facility, nursing home, or hospital is preferred. (Experience might include such things as cleaning restrooms; cleaning resident rooms, offices or public areas; mopping, scrubbing, dusting, sweeping, buffing, etc.)


Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment may require satisfactory completion of a medical examination and drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
