Buckeye Partners is currently seeking a Business Associate within the Oil & Gas Industry to join our team!

Role Summary:

The Business Associate role is responsible for supporting Senior Management by providing analytical and research support for the Planning, Financial Analysis and Reporting functions of business segments.

Responsibilities & Essential Functions include:

  • Serve as financial champion and custodian for South Texas.
  • Provide financial leadership and guidance to the South Texas teams to facilitate fiscally responsible business decisions.
  • Create financial guidelines/checklists for District South Texas staff and management to follow for properly recording time to work orders
  • Assist the South Texas staff in building, interpreting, and reporting on the budget.
  • Prepare economic analysis
  • Provide managerial reports for South Texas to Corporate regarding budget variances.
  • Conduct random audits of financial processes (i.e. p-cards, AFE's, contracts, etc.).
  • Assist South Texas personnel with contract negotiations and contract implementation.
  • Budget and Forecast Support. Plan and execute the annual budget and forecast process by participating in strategic planning sessions with senior management. Detailed analysis of key strategic initiatives.
  • Business Performance Support. Maintain business performance forecast and related inputs (e.g. updated contracting schedules, changes in expected expenditures) and perform ad-hoc analysis as requested to provide support to business segment leadership in execution of financial plan.
  • Financial Analysis & Reporting. Perform budget-to-actual variance analysis and prepare reports/presentations for senior management.
  • Review and analyze metrics to measure operational and financial performance and identify key drivers for the business segment.
  • Internal Interactions. Work and communicate with various internal groups, including commercial, operations, corporate development, information technology, accounting, financial reporting and corporate financial planning & analysis.
  • Process Improvements. Assist with identifying process improvements, implementing changes and ensuring best practices
  • And other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Business/Accounting / Finance degree required.
  • 0-3 years related experience.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint) is preferred.
  • Office based. No remote work.

  • The successful incumbent must be a team player that is capable of thriving in a fast-paced transactional environment. He/she must be an inquisitive, business-oriented self-starter who enjoys project work, can multi-task and meet strict deadlines.
  • High-level analytical and quantitative skills are necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with high level of maturity combined with excellent verbal and written communication skills are also required. The incumbent must also be organized, focused and articulate, with the ability to confidently interact with senior management, directors, investment bankers, etc.
