Description

Comfort Inn & Suites is hiring a Front Desk Supervisor for the Barstow, CA location. This position will be responsible for assisting guests with their requests and taking reservations. The Front Office Supervisor is primarily responsible for handling all guest interactions and going above and beyond to exceed guest requests. This position is responsible for all Front Office Associate duties as well as scheduling, inventory, training new staff to hotel standards, resolving customer challenges, and aiding all departments. Works closely with the housekeeping department in keeping room status reports up to date and coordinates requests for maintenance and repair work. Maintains guest room key storage, and maintains and supervises access to safe deposit boxes. Must be sales-minded.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Promotes Company Mission, Vision and Core Values.
  • Registers guests and assigns rooms. Accommodates special requests whenever possible.
  • Assists in pre-registration and blocking of rooms for reservations.
  • Thoroughly understands and adheres to proper credit, check-cashing, and cash-handling policies and procedures.
  • Understands room status and room status tracking.
  • Knows room locations, types of rooms available, and room rates.
  • Uses suggestive selling techniques to sell rooms and to promote other services of the hotel.
  • Coordinates room status updates with the housekeeping department by notifying housekeeping of all check-outs, late check-outs, early check-ins, special requests, and part-day rooms.
  • Possesses a working knowledge of the reservations department. Takes same day reservations and future reservations when necessary. Knows cancellation procedures.
  • Files room keys.
  • Processes guest check-outs.
  • Posts and files all charges to guest, master, and city ledger accounts.
  • Follows procedures for issuing and closing safe deposit boxes.
  • Uses proper mail, package, and message handling procedures.
  • Read the pass-on log and bulletin board daily. Is aware of daily activities and meetings taking place in the hotel.
  • Attends department meetings.
  • Coordinates guest room maintenance work with the engineering and maintenance division.
  • Reports any unusual occurrences or requests to the manager or assistant manager.
  • Knows all safety and emergency procedures. Is aware of accident prevention policies.
  • Understands that business demands sometimes make it necessary to move employees from their accustomed shift to other shifts.
  • Assists other departments when needed and performs any additional duties as assigned by Management.
  • Is MOD in the absence of AGM and GM and when needed.
  • Manages Front Desk team to complete delegated projects.
  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures and brand standards and assists Management with holding Front Desk Staff accountable.
  • Conducts the onboarding and orientation of Front Desk Clerks.
  • Trains Front Desk Staff on PMS and Brand Standards
  • Creates and maintains Front Desk staff schedule on a weekly basis.

Qualifications

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Must have the ability to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Requires finger dexterity, grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, hearing, visual acuity, and may on occasion have to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Must have good communication skills, Spanish speaking skills a plus.
  • Must be team oriented and dedicated to providing excellent service while ensuring that the brand's highest standards are met.
  • Must be able to work any day of the week including weekends and holidays.
  • One year Front Desk experience is required.
  • One year management experience is preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Food Handler Card as required by local regulations is mandatory.
