Basic Function

Provides leadership and strategic direction for the plant. Single point of accountability for operational excellence (safety, compliance, reliability, quality and cost) performance of plant. Safeguards and maintains assets. Participates as a member of the overall Manufacturing Management Team, and as member / leader of other Manufacturing and Company teams.

Job Specification

Position requires a high level of leadership and managerial skills with extensive experience in a manufacturing environment. The incumbent also should have a thorough knowledge of plant operations as well as a good understanding of the business acquired through exposure to plant economics, marketing, and customer needs. This position also requires excellent communication, leadership, long-range planning skills and the ability to manage many diverse issues within a large multi-layered organization.

The position has direct contact with employees at all levels as well as management and executive level personnel in customer and supplier organizations and other functions within Equistar, Lyondell, and affiliated companies. Incumbent in this position must model the Leadership Principles and the Essential Elements, and be able to motivate others to act according to these guiding principles.

This position is also the primary Company contact with the local public and community leaders

Roles & Responsibilities

Plant Leadership:Lead in a manner consistent with the Essential Elements and Leadership Principles and ensure that these philosophies are understood and demonstrated by all. Set expectations concerning continual improvement in safety performance and lead the organization in achievement of safety goals and objectives. Lead the change agenda by guiding the organization through the line organization and embracing a continuous improvement strategy. Provide leadership that encourages supervisors and employees to think and act outside the box to address business needs. Define clear roles and responsibilities for the plant staff, provide authority to meet these roles and responsibilities, and hold the organization accountable. Identify the business and organizational needs of the plant, ensure plant organization is efficient and effective, and staff/develop employees to meet these needs. Value and champion diversity. Ensure manufacturing systems are in place and functioning well. Understand, communicate, and act on plant financials.

Manufacturing Leadership:As an active member of the APS Manufacturing Staff, participate in the development and execution of manufacturing direction/strategy. Work with other Site Managers to define and advance strategies that ensure manufacturing has world class people, processes, and assets.

Company Leadership:Develop working relationships and goal alignment with other Site and functional managers. Develop an understanding of Company goals and objectives to ensure that plant activities are consistent. Champion initiatives to pursue best practices within the organization and to identify and exploit opportunities for Synergies.

Min. Qualifications

* Minimum of five (5) years of manufacturing experience with demonstrated leadership experience.
* Experience with Operational Excellence programs and Continuous Improvement in leadership and contributing roles.
* Must have excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills; including the ability to interface with internal & external customer contacts.
* Must be able to communicate to all levels of the organization.
* Must possess a high level of initiative and independent decision-making ability.
* Establish and maintain facility environmental, safety, and health standards to minimize employee and community exposure.
* Must possess solid computer skills and working with production software, excel spreadsheets and other reporting applications.
* Knowledge of quality systems and standards with a focus on creating improvement standards that are based on the practices of root cause analysis.

* Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Management or other technical field preferred.
* Experience with particle size reduction and/or polymer extrusion manufacturing processes.
* Knowledge of engineering and technology principles and practices is a plus.
* Knowledge of business, finance and management principles as well as the ability to review and comprehend financial reports is a plus

Preferred Qualifications

* Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Management or other technical field preferred.
* Experience with particle size reduction and/or polymer extrusion manufacturing processes.
* Knowledge of engineering and technology principles and practices is a plus.
* Knowledge of business, finance and management principles as well as the ability to review and comprehend financial reports is a plus
