TRANSMISSION TEST ROOM TECHNICIAN

Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C. is hiring a Transmission Test Room Technician in Salem, Virginia at our corporate headquarters for 2nd shift. The Transmission Test Room Technician performs testing and validation procedures on transmission systems to ensure their functionality, reliability, and compliance with specifications. Responsibilities include conducting various tests, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with teams to identify and resolve problems. Seeking candidates with previous or related heavy equipment service experience. Experience with Caterpillar or related equipment industry experience, military equipment experience or completion of a diesel school program. High school diploma or GED required.

Requirements for the Transmission Test Room Technician position include:

• Must have a strong understanding of transmission systems and testing methodologies.
• Must have the ability to work with complex technical equipment.
• Self-starter able to work with limited supervision.
• Must have strong mechanical aptitude.
• Proficient in the use of a computer, Microsoft Office products and service software required in position.
• Requires good communication skills.
• Must be able to perform work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to work as an integral part of a team.
• Must be able to work shifts as needed, including days, nights, and/or weekends to meet customer needs.

Physical requirements must be met for the Transmission Test Room Technician job, including regularly being required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 20 pounds.
