Financial Credit Risk AnalystACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT

The Financial Credit Risk Analyst will assist the VP, Financial Credit Risk with managing the CECL estimate framework, while supporting credit risk reporting and analytics. Activities will include portfolio data sourcing, data reconciliation, defining and documenting model assumptions, processing credit loss results using the Impairment Studio/Moody's Analytics models, preparing results, and supporting credit committee recommendations. Analyst should be familiar with the fundamentals consumer lending and, or credit risk management and be able to apply critical thinking. Over time, it is expected the analyst will learn how to integrate the analysis into credit mitigation and pricing strategies. This is a highly technical, high visibility role, with a tremendous ability to impact strategy and bottom-line.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Develop a granular understanding of the inner workings of the Moody's Impairment Studio and the Portfolio Analyzer (PA) models, including the ability to explain variances and sensitivity to inputs.
  • Interpret results, summarize assumptions, and document model and platform configurations, including documenting methodologies for qualitative adjustments.
  • Develop PD/LGDs for various loan portfolios under different scenarios, in collaboration with staff to develop and streamline credit inputs to the capital planning model.
  • Collaborate with Lending and other departments to assess credit risk with respect to future new and existing products for margin analysis.
  • Build strong working relationships with Advanced Data Analytics and Data Solutions teams to ensure data quality.
  • Evaluate credit policies and identify quantitative and qualitative factors driving the credit risk for the loan portfolios.
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Expectation is a minimum of three years of relevant experience with credit loss modeling. Ability to grasp quantitative concepts such as PD/LGD, and their application to credit risk management. Technical skills including advanced Excel and programming experience handling large datasets is a strong plus. Strong analytical, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Knowledge of the Moody's Portfolio Analyzer models and Moody's Impairment Studio is beneficial.

Required

  • Strong programming knowledge, preferably in SQL, SAS and/or Python.
  • Understand concepts of probabilities of default and loss given default.
  • Proficiency in data extraction and manipulation, data visualization tools, and reporting process automation.
  • Understand macroeconomic theory and the impact on the credit conditions of consumers and businesses.
  • Excellent organization skills.
  • Ability to balance numerous tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Solid analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with members of other departments.
EDUCATION

A four-year college degree in a business-related field such as Finance, Economics, Mathematics or Statistics is required. An advanced degree or certification such as a Financial Risk Manager (FRM) or Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) may substitute for experience. Good written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
