Mechanic - Full-time / Part-time

TopSide Marinas is looking for mechanics in Waukegan, IL. Mechanics do not need to have marine specific backgrounds. Any mechanical background is welcome to apply. If you want to work on boats and be around water, read through the description below and reach out to us.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Troubleshoot and repair marinized engines
• Repair propulsion components such as gear cases, stern drives, etc.
• Diagnose and repair carbureted and fuel injected intake systems
• Perform winterization and summarization of engines and boat systems
• Solid understanding of 12V and battery bank systems
• Operate diagnostic software
• Installations such as new engines, pumps and others as assigned
• Perform mechanical repairs on boat equipment including water systems, waste systems, steering systems, engine controls, etc.
• Demonstrate good judgment and problem-solving skills and abilities
• Perform other duties as assigned or apparent

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

• High school diploma ore equivalent (GED) required
• Ability to speak and read English and understand electrical wiring diagrams
• Ability to use test instruments
• Ability to use specialty tools as designated by OEM’s
• Must provide tools and test equipment
• Specialty tools and diagnostics provided
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job
• Strong work ethic and personal commitment
• Ability to work in a team environment to achieve team, department, and company goals
• Ability to be a self-starter and work independently
• Willingness to work on a variety of internal combustion engines (diesel, inboard, outboard, etc.)
• Diesel experience only is welcome
