Cement Lab Technician

The Levy Group of Companies is seeking a Cement Lab Technician for our Levy Technical Services division in Portage, IN. The Cement Lab Technician tests cement samples using routine methods and basic arithmetic computations.

Pay: $20-$25/hr

Shift/Schedule: Mon.-Fri. Days

Responsibilities

The Cement Lab Technician will:

• Follow all safety procedures and protocols
• Perform routine testing of cement samples (Blaine fineness, #325 wet sieve, density, mortar testing including cube strength, air cup and flow test, cement paste testing including Vicat consistency and set time; additional testing as required)
• Strip, clean and prep cube mold
• Assist in performing routine testing of aggregate samples (quartering samples, running gradations, washes, moistures, unit weights, specific gravity and picking deleterious; additional testing as required)
• Keep accurate records and data
• Calibrate and perform preventative maintenance on lab equipment
• Perform routine housekeeping of lab
• Attend training and work toward identified certifications
• Perform special projects, studies and other duties as assigned by supervisor

Skills

The ideal candidate will have:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Cement/concrete certification, a plus (or willingness to obtain ACI certifications)
• Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, Microsoft Outlook)
• Basic math skills
• Basic knowledge of statistics
• Ability to Lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time
• Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding and stockpiles
• Ability to tolerate noise, temperature and environmental variations and working at elevated heights
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% of the time
• Valid driver's license and excellent driving record
