Position Details

Crown Fiber is seeking an experienced HDD Crew Lead/Foreman to be the technical subject matter expert for a 5-6-person crew on a newly established, long-term project in Phoenix AZ, building out Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH). The ideal candidate for this role is enthusiastic, highly concerned with safety and quality, cares about the quality of their work and is willing and excited to teach all crew members how to hone their craft. Relocation package may be available is for the right candidate.

 

Responsibilities:

· Safely operate directional drill rigs

· Responsible for overall site and crew safety and must exhibit and uphold Crown Fiber's safety values

· Foreman must have the ability to Locate/Operate, trench, place duct, pull cable, and direct bury main-line and drops. Locate & verify all utilities before construction using multiple methods.

· A demonstrated working knowledge of telecommunications construction: familiarity with Horizontal Directional Drills; ability to use cable placement equipment and tools and the ability to identify and troubleshoot problems

· Individuals must be able to read prints and have knowledge of the underground process

· Manage the build schedule/timeline

· Responsible for running a variety of equipment including but not limited to; all types of Directional Drills, (Vermeer and/or Ditch Witch) and locators, various types of Trucks, Excavators, Forklifts, Dump trucks, etc.

· Serve as single point of contact with company crews, and inspectors

· Able to work in all kinds of outdoor working conditions

 

Qualifications:

· High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

· Strong work ethic and desire to be a leader

· Effective communication skills and a positive attitude

· The ability to manage and direct construction crew

· Valid US Driver's License with no major violations in last 3 years

· Able to work in a fast-paced environment

· The ability to work safely, with or without supervision

· Ability to operate equipment, including, but not limited to directional drills, locating systems, trencher, backhoe, excavators

· Normal work conditions include M-F, no weekend work, +/-10hrs overtime. Exceptions will occur.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

· Minimum 3yrs operating a directional drill (Vermeer and/or Ditch Witch)

· Minimum 3 years of leading an underground crew

· Minimum 5 years OSP experience

· OSHA 10/30

· Experience leading crew members

· Class A CDL is a plus

 

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

This job operates in a field environment. This role routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting. Also, working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This position is physically active, with lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
