The Opportunity

Ulteig is excited to announce that we are seeking qualified candidates for an Associate Director of Survey & Right-of-Way in our Field Services Department. We are seeking a creative, intelligent, driven individual with expertise leading leaders of multi-discipline teams of field personnel, surveyors, land agents and professionals. This individual will provide project leadership, support business development efforts across the department to new and existing clients, provide functional leadership to our growing environmental discipline. This position would be a key contributor to Ulteig's environmental strategies and initiatives and develop and implement strategies to improve operations and execution.

What You'll Do

Project Responsibilities - 20%

  • Provides project and program oversight, including managing scopes according to contracts, ensuring the development and process of change orders, and overseeing quality services.
  • Supports and manages Survey & ROW activities during the proposal, execution, quality control and constructions stages of projects assigned.
  • Provides management and leadership for subconsultants
  • Directs and coordinates activities of several disciplines on projects of significant scopes or combination of large projects.
  • Maintains high levels of quality to meet internal and external client requirements in alignment with Company expectations.

Management Responsibilities - 50%

  • Maintains and grows positive team culture.
  • Provides strategic direction, leadership and technical oversight for managers and teams on achieving individual, team, department, and organizational performance goals.
  • Coaches, trains and develops management staff for growth and development.
  • Responsible for regular management meetings, 1:1 meeting, career development discussions, talent assessment succession planning, quarterly reviews, individual promotions, team retention, and yearly team engagement survey results.
  • Regularly evaluates capacity and skillsets to direct growth in workforce planning, supports strong cross team and cross office resourcing collaboration, performs individual performance reviews, evaluates individual annual merit and bonus decisions, and provides training and professional development for team members.
  • Participates with cross functional teams on strategic initiatives for the company and/or department as needed.

Business Development Responsibilities - 30%

  • Participates and partners with members of the various Lifeline Sector sales & marketing teams to promote growth and market expansion with existing and prospective clients that support the territory sales plan execution.
  • Supports proposal efforts as needed by working with the Proposal Development Team and the Project Management group.
  • Maintains and builds positive client relationships.

What We Expect from You

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from ABET accredited school or equivalent, preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in survey, right-of-way and/or consulting.
  • Prior leadership/management experience required.
  • Must be analytical, self-motivated, and possess the ability to work in high-pressure situations while maintaining a positive, enthusiastic, and collaborative attitude.
  • Focused and passionate around internal engagement and maximizing development of others.
  • Strong business acumen and industry knowledge.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, public and external agencies.
  • High level of initiative and demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with clear expectations and highly responsive, internally and externally.
  • Excellent presentation and verbal/written communications skills.
  • Displays a high level of initiative and explores new opportunities while understanding the risk to the organization.
  • Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, Projects, Power Point, and Access) and additional software knowledge depending on specialty.
  • Must have valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to travel 20-40% of time.
  • Must have authorization to work permanently in the U.S.

Additional Opportunity Details:
Compensation Range is Generally +/- 15% of Position Mid-Point of $ 175,000
