Feldco Staff Accountant Position
General Description:  The Staff Accountant will support leadership within the Accounting and Finance functions. This role will combine a series of recurring weekly, monthly, and year-end tasks, along with financial analysis and strategic projects. As such, your job responsibilities and hours may occasionally be altered to help others complete their duties. Commensurate with other salaried positions, the role may require work on evenings and weekends to keep up with business levels. 
From time-to-time, this position WILL require travel to other offices inside, and outside of, Chicagoland.
 
Reports to:  Accounting Manager (primary), Corporate Controller (secondary)
 
Objectives of the Accounting & Finance Department (not in any particular order):
  1. Establish efficient processes and controls to support internal and external customers in a consistent manner to enable leadership to rely on prepared financial reporting materials.
  2. Increase:
    1. Customer Delight both internally and externally
    2. On-time and complete fulfillment percentage
    3. EBITDA
  3. Look for and execute opportunities to improve the business.
  4. Close monthly financials within seven business days.
  5. Develop camaraderie, rapport, and relationships with my Feldco team and organization.
Key Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant:
  • Support leadership of the Accounting and Finance functions at Feldco, Vertical Chimney Care, and Danley’s.
  • Prepare journal entries in accordance with accrual-based accounting standards as applicable.
  • Process daily transactions, including cancellations and contract funding.
  • Monitor vendor invoices to ensure accurate and timely payment.
  • Reconcile Raxis and Great Plains to ensure all daily transactions are accounted for.
  • Reconcile bank accounts at both the subledger and general ledger levels.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and take ownership of account balances and activity.
  • Complete month-end closing procedures and assist with financial statement preparation, including analysis of fluctuations and variances.
  • Take an active role in the annual compilation preparation for Feldco and related business units.
  • Define, execute, and lead process improvement initiatives for lean and efficient workflow.
  • Propose enhancements to the organization that will improve operational excellence and automate business processes.
  • Strive for excellence in relation to Feldco’s Keys to Success: Customer Delight, Professionalism, Teamwork, Productivity and Accountability.
 
Job Qualifications and Requirements:
 
  • Degree: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is required.
  • Years of Experience: 1-3 years
  • Work Location: In person at the Corporate office every day.
  • Hours: 40+ hours

  • Demonstrates successful experience with the following:
    • Problem solving
    • Time Management/Task Prioritization
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Excel required).
  • Adaptable, with a willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working individually and in a team setting.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy over work produced.
  • Ability to successfully communicate, verbally and in writing, with various levels of internal leadership and external contacts.
