Job Summary:

Selective Insurance is looking for a Premium Audit Trainee to work a Hybrid schedule in our West region with an office location in Scottsdale, AZ. This position will learn how to perform physical audits (in-person and virtually) on Property / Casualty Commercial Line policies in accordance with company, industry and government rules and regulations to ensure accurate earned premiums, appropriate classifications, and exposures. Upon successful completion of training, (may include on-the-job, self-study, and classroom), the trainee will acquire the skills and abilities necessary to schedule and complete audits, interact with agents, insureds, underwriting and regulatory agencies. The training class is set to begin July 8, in our corporate office in Branchville, NJ.

Responsibilities:

  • Learn how to manage, schedule and conduct physical / virtual audits for selected Commercial Lines policies based on auditable exposures. Audit consists of reviewing the insured's business operations, examining and recording data from the appropriate financial / business records.
  • Evaluates all subcontractor operations and details exposures according to manual rules. Verifying claims data. Determines and/or develops premium basis and classification. All in accordance with company, industry and government rules and regulations.
  • Learn how to manage and schedule territory and inventory to optimize efficiencies, auditor expectations and meet internal and external customer needs.
  • Attend training programs and meet all requirements associated with completion of hosted coursework.
  • Develop proficiency in insurance coverage and understanding or risk factors.
  • Learn how to maintain a positive customer relationship and develop rapport with internal and external customers to provide ongoing technical expertise.
  • Learn how to utilize automated premium audit work management system, commercial lines automated systems, PAAS and respective independent bureau state websites.
  • Learn to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing to agents, insureds, and interdepartmental staff.
  • Including learning to identify and address reasons for large increases or decreases on final audits.
  • Car travel may represent approximately 50% of employee's time and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications:

  • Recent college degree preferred.
  • Proficient in most standard business software applications, particularly Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook).
  • Demonstrated self-starter.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers/peers.
  • Must show sound, balanced and timely decision-making skills.
  • Must have valid state-issued driver's license in good standing.
