Role Description

Form Energy is scaling a new class of battery manufacturing. In this role, you are the automation subject matter expert defining the automation strategy, designing and deploying

We are looking for a Robotics and Automation expert who will create our automation strategy and capabilities for scaling production. As part of our Assembly Manufacturing Engineering team, you will work closely with the product design team to develop manufacturing-ready products and create initial manufacturing processes. This role will be located at in Weirton, WV, which is just a short drive outside of Pittsburgh, PA

What you'll do:

  • Lead the design and development of robotics and automation systems to streamline manufacturing processes and improve overall efficiency.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, software developers, and manufacturing engineers to integrate robotics and automation solutions into existing systems.

  • Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to evaluate the potential benefits and challenges of implementing robotics and automation technologies.

  • Design, program, and implement robotic systems using various technologies such as robotic arms, vision systems, sensors, and actuators.

  • Develop and optimize control algorithms and software for robotic systems to ensure accurate and efficient operation.

  • Manage projects from concept to completion, including defining project requirements, creating project plans, and coordinating resources to meet project milestones and deadlines.

  • Stay current with advancements in robotics and automation technologies, and recommend innovative solutions to improve manufacturing processes and achieve business objectives.

  • Collaborate with external vendors and suppliers to source components and equipment for robotics and automation projects, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with existing robotics and automation systems, implementing corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives as needed.

What you'll bring:

  • 10+ years of experience in robotics, automation, and/or mechatronics engineering, with a proven track record of successful project execution.

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Python, and/or MATLAB for robotics and automation applications.

  • Strong knowledge of robotic kinematics, dynamics, and control theory.

  • Experience with CAD software for 3D modeling and simulation (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).

  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to robotics and automation (e.g., ISO 10218, ANSI/RIA R15.06).

  • Proven leadership abilities, with experience leading cross-functional teams and driving projects to successful completion.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Experience working in a high volume manufacturing environment required.
