SUMMARYThe Technical Support Specialist role is pivotal in delivering comprehensive end-user support for software, various technological equipment, and agency-approved applications across both the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranch and Sheriffs Ranches Enterprises.
Reporting directly to the Director of Information Technology, the Technical Support Specialist plays a key role in ensuring the seamless operation of computer systems for end-users within the organization. This position is eligible for overtime pay.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following duties and responsibilities are given as examples of the various types of work performed in this position.  
  1. Assists and trains personnel in the use of computer systems for agency applications and business functions.
  2. Provides phone, email, in-person, and help desk technical support for end users on  a variety of hardware and software problems including operating system support, application support, system access problems, and VOIP
  3. Maintains Help Desk services consisting of ticket acknowledgment, documentation, and resolution.
  4. Maintains end user desktop and laptop operating system deployment, configuration, and installation.
  5. Makes recommendations for improvements in personal computer equipment, installing hardware upgrades as needed.
  6. Contributes to problem-solving initiatives by conducting in-depth research on technical subject matter. Maintains up-to-date knowledge and relevance in Information Technology by staying abreast of the latest topics and trends in the field.
  7. Performs other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS A High school diploma or GED is required.  A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in technical support is required. Alternatively, an associate degree in a relevant field is preferred.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each area of responsibility satisfactorily.  The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

    • Proficient in reading and interpreting diverse documents, business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures.
    • Capable of crafting routine reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals.
    • Effective in presenting information and adept at responding to inquiries from various groups.
  2. Problem-Solving and Analytical Abilities:
    • Demonstrates the capacity to define problems, gather relevant data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
    • Able to interpret a wide array of instructions and adept at resolving issues across various situations.
  3. Numerical Proficiency:
    • Possesses strong numerical skills, including the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  4. Instructional Skills:
    • Capable of instructing others in the utilization of computers, agency software, and related equipment.
  5. Planning and Organization:
    • Exhibits the ability to establish both long and short-range goals.
    • Skillful in planning and organizing work effectively and demonstrating commitment to follow through to completion.
  6. Independence and Initiative:
    • Self-motivated and able to work independently to complete work assignments with minimal supervision.

Job Type: Full-time 

Pay: $19.50 per hour
