Join our team of high performers in Danbury, CT as a Principal Electrical Engineer. This role is responsible for developing new technology as well as driving existing technology to produce highly complex electrical engineering solutions for multiple advanced Navy and Commercial applications. We are looking for someone who will design, develop, analyze, document, and support testing of power conversion products and systems for high reliability Navy and commercial applications. In addition, they will troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions in existing products or new developments and modify as needed.
- Perform power conversion system and component designs
- Analyze designs, as necessary, using computer simulation and document results
- Work within a multifunctional team to develop new, highly efficient architectures/technologies that meet requirements and improve product performance, safety, and reliability
- Apply a solid understanding of Design for Excellence (DfX) and drive these characteristics into the products being developed
- Demonstrate power conversion development experience through proposal, design, test, qualification, and integration development cycles
- Review customer specifications and requirements, and develop designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable
- Document component and subsystem specifications and material requirements
- Develop and test prototypes to retire key development risks
- Communicate clearly (written and oral) with manufacturing, supply chain, program management and the customer as required
- Participate in preparation of the more complex and significant proposals
- Provide technical expertise and assistance to other engineers and support personnel
- Interact with technical management, other professionals, technicians and support personnel to coordinate, recommend and confer regarding technical activities and progress
- Execute on budget and on time, provide cost and schedule inputs for design assignments
- Mentor and coach less-experienced engineers
- Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field with a minimum of 8years of experience in a power engineering field or a Master's degree in engineering and at least 6 years or related technical experience in power electronics
- Advanced knowledge of circuit and system analysis using computer simulation tools (MatLAB, MathCAD, Simulink, PSpice)
- Knowledge and significant experience in multiple engineering disciplines
- Candidates must be a US citizen and meet DRS security standards as imposed by DoD, including the issuance of any necessary security clearance by the US government within a reasonable time after commencement of employment
