Position Summary:
Performs phlebotomy procedures in a prompt, accurate, and reliable manner following established departmental procedures in a safe manner with minimal trauma to patient. Receives laboratory specimens, including blood and body fluids, and processes samples for Laboratory testing. Performs clerical and client service functions for the Laboratory as requested. Compliant with all safety standards and utilizes Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Pay Range: $16.83 - $26.07 per hour

Educational Requirements/ Qualifications:
1. High School Diploma or GED required.
2. A science background and phlebotomy experience is preferred.
3. Excellent manual dexterity and customer service skills are required.
4. BLS Certification Required

Lab Services Supervisor, Laboratory Manager, Director of Laboratory Services, Medical Laboratory Director

Works in a modern, clean, well-lighted, heated and ventilated areas. Bio and chemical hazards, noxious odors.

Job Functions/Responsibilities:
1. Provide excellent customer service and appropriate treatment to all.
2. Make accurate computer entries for laboratory orders and charges posted using the LIS and demonstrate working knowledge of LIS.
3. Utilize the MobiLab system if required at facility site to identify patients, generate sample labels and document the phlebotomy/sample collection process.
4. Perform two patient identification techniques throughout all steps of lab processes, e.g. greeting the patient, ID bands, drawing samples and/or matching labels, slips, samples, log-sheets, etc.
5. Perform venipunctures with dexterity and minimum pain or trauma to the patients.
6. Demonstrate proper labeling of specimens during collection.
7. Follow established guidelines and policies for lab specimen collection and rejection.
8. Receive, process, and deliver specimens to the proper areas of the lab in a timely manner and according to established guidelines.
9. Process Reference Lab specimens according to established guidelines and specifications.
10. Act as courier for blood and body fluid and/or tissue specimens to other sites. May transport other items/materials, including dry ice.
11. Follow all Safety, HazMat, Chemical Hygiene, and Bloodborne Disease Exposure precautions and policies.
12. Complete event reports or initiate noncompliance reports under the guidance of senior staff.
13. Maintain cleanliness of phlebotomy area and restock phlebotomy trays.
14. Perform front office duties such as filing, charting, faxing reports, etc.
15. Complete all required competencies by due dates.
16. Review emails daily for optimum inter departmental / shift / site communication.
17. Follow all hospital policies and procedures.
18. Perform special processing functions including, but not limited to, receiving and sending coolers to other sites, send outs and preparing supply orders for doctor's offices.
19. Participate and contribute to Quality/Performance activities.
20. Perform inventory control activities including ordering, receiving, and storage of supplies.
21. Maintain overall cleanliness and organization of the laboratory areas
22. Perform all other duties as assigned.

1. Is knowledgeable of Corporate Compliance responsibilities and adheres to current rules, regulations, and adheres to current rules, regulations, and policies that affect his/her specific job functions/responsibilities.
2. Assists other employees and/or departments with compliance issues and demonstrates support of the Corporate Compliance program
