The Job/What You'll Do:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for working with senior leaders and the Controller to analyze the economic stability of the organization. This role will assist with month-end close, reconciliations, financial analyses, budgeting, and reporting and a variety of other accounting work in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles consistent with established organizational policies and procedures. The Senior Accountant also assist the Controller in other departmental work as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee month-end close cycle.
  • Maintain financial records by analyzing balance sheets and general ledger accounts.
  • Review and analyze contract and contribution revenue to determine proper treatment according to accounting principles and uniform guidance.
  • Prepare Monthly and Quarterly financial reports, including statement of cash flows.
  • Conduct trend analysis of financial statements and explain variances.
  • Prepare monthly budget to actual analysis reports.
  • Assist in preparing audit schedules and working with auditors.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining cost allocation methods.
  • Assist in preparation of the annual budget.
  • Assist in creation and maintenance of financial reports.
  • Conduct ad hoc analyses as requested by management.
  • Training and coaching Staff Accountant(s), including reviewing Journal Entries postings and reconciliations.
  • Assist in troubleshooting with Payroll and Accounts Payable.
  • Maintain accounting controls by following policies and procedures, complying with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements.
  • Other accounting and administrative tasks as delegated.
  • Is open to being an active learner, participating in discussions with others, trying new approaches and ideas, and being self-aware and self-reflective for continual personal, professional and leadership growth.
  • Strategically plans for diversity initiatives as they relate to Human Resources, including talent acquisition, development, and retention.

Education & Experience:

  • 5-8 years of experience in field, Required
  • Bachelors Degree, Preferred
    • (NOTE: A comparable combination of education/experience and/or training will be considered equivalent to the education listed above.)

Working Conditions:

While performing the job duties in the office or at a home office, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands; they must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Exposure to noise typical with office operations. Ability to hear and speak.
