**SIGN-ON BONUS**

OCO's Crisis & Development Services assist people in gaining safety, self sufficiency and personal growth through prevention, intervention and skill building services. This position provides direct assistance to consumers living in a homeless shelter.

DUTIES:

  • Provide oversight to ensure the safety and well-being of youth in shelter
  • Handle routine situations that arise, assist customers in contacting and connecting with resources
  • Monitor and help support the development of daily living skills
  • Provide crisis intervention and supportive counseling
  • Assist customers with scheduling appointments and recreation/social activities; may provide transportation as needed

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to establish/maintain relationships and to work effectively with assigned individuals
  • Demonstrate good judgment and an ability to assess and de-escalate situations
  • Professional manner and display good judgment, initiative and resourcefulness
  • Model appropriate problem resolution and living skills
  • Acceptable ability to carry out the responsibilities of the position including readily negotiating stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds, walking for long periods of time with intermittent breaks and transporting

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent; and 12 months related experience in the area of human services OR any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License with driving background within policy, and access to a reliable, properly insured vehicle for reimbursed travel and transport
  • Candidates with lives experience of homelessness are encouraged to apply.

Full-Time 37.5 Hours per week with flexibility

Grade 8

Monday - 11:30 pm to 9 am on Tuesday

Wednesday - Midnight to 9 am AND 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm

Thursday - Midnight to 9 am

Friday - Midnight to 9 am
