La Terra Fina is seeking a Manufacturing Training Manager to develop, design, and facilitate the delivery of La Terra Fina’s on-the-job Manufacturing training program and to help memorialize the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for job-specific roles. In this role you will enable us to understand—and improve—the level of manufacturing skill we currently have. This position forwards the company’s goal of meeting and exceeding performance criteria to create ever more advanced career pathing for our team members while supporting strong business results.

Primary Responsibilities


Role Metrics

  • Develop training that adheres to our Food Safety/Quality standards and addresses current skill gaps.
  • Alignment with the bullet above and our Employee Safety Program should be evident in the company’s maintaining or improving our current high level of Safety performance.
  • Affecting the Production organization in a manner that shows high internal customer satisfaction levels.

Utilizing current available content, plus your augmentation of same, design and memorialize effective job training for Production positions that aligns with our Standard Operating Procedures, GMPs, and Safety Program

  • Craft training to accommodate new hires as well as tenured employees looking to advance their skills.
  • Metrics-driven activity enabling good information to management will be important.
  • Design and roll out Train-the-Trainer programs utilizing and developing Subject Matter Experts.

Develop metrics to show positive impact of training on performance, morale, skill gap closure

  • Understand, confirm and track current qualifications, skill sets, and certifications across the department.
  • Prepare documentation and material necessary to perform training effectiveness validation and testing.
  • Maintain and update department-specific library of training and reference materials, videos, publications, etc.

Become a respectful and helpful voice for validating practices as needed

  • Alert management when violations of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) occur, or Process Controls are identified.
  • Understand the operation deeply, enabling suggestions re changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase the safety and efficiency of the shop, department, and employees.
  • Be an easy and sincere collaborator cross-functionally to coordinate efforts around process improvement.
  • Coordinate with management and colleagues (FSQ Manager, Safety Coordinator) for required employee training.

Maintain the “Learning Matrix” spreadsheet up to date.

  • Partnership with the HR department and Operations to update and maintain the Training Program.

Promote a safe work culture

  • Assure LTF safety program guidelines are supported by and through developed training.
  • Actively participate in Plant Safety program audits, inspections, and JSAs.

Maintains work areas aligned with Lean (5-S) principles

  • Embrace Lean principles and training and apply them to work environment and team management.
  • Participate in all 5-S events to strengthen cultural alignment throughout Manufacturing org on 5-S and Lean activities.

Perform additional responsibilities as needed.


Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelors’ degree or formal training certification
  • At least three years’ experience training in a manufacturing environment
  • Natural desire to help people learn and advance themselves.
  • Exceptional organizational, problem-solving, goal setting, and planning skills.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with and earn the trust of all levels of employees.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite-Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • This position must pass post-offer background and drug testing.

Preferred:

  • Experience working in food/beverage manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Food Safety & Quality, Safety and Security policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of regulatory laws that affect employment/training, including ADA.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently requires standing, lifting, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, smelling, listening, speaking, and seeing to perform the essential job duties.
  • Work conditions and time will vary based on work/project needs, and flexibility is critical. Temperatures range from 5 to 90 degrees F in processing departments.
  • Exposure to potentially dangerous machinery and equipment is present in the plant. Potential electrical, mechanical, and chemical hazards are also present. The noise level is high and constant. The floors are damp and slick.
