Position Summary

The Salvation Army Brainerd Lakes Corps is doing the most good by providing holistic, person-centered services to individuals and families in need. In addition to worship services and pastoral care, services include short and long-term case management, food, clothing, utility, rent, housing support, and connections to community partners.

The Social Services Coordinator/Office Manager provides direct assistance to participants and oversees the food shelf. The Coordinator/Office Manager is also responsible for clerical, financial, and administrative support functions.

$17/hour, 40 hours/week

$18/hour after 90 days

Essential Functions (approximate time spent)

* Provide participants with direct assistance (e.g., foodshelf, Heatshare, vouchers). (20%)

* Process incoming food donations and purchases (e.g., document, store, pickup, stock). (20%)

* Assist with corps finances (e.g., review/submit invoices, monitor expenses, deposits, process monetary/in-kind donations). (15%)

* Perform administrative and clerical support tasks (e.g., answering and screening calls, recordkeeping, filing, statistical reporting, food shelf reporting). (15%)

* Oversee food shelf operations including staffing and training and ensure health department and food bank standards are met or exceeded. (10%)

* Recruit qualifying participants for POH and promote social services and corps programs with participants and throughout the community. (10%)

* Engage in internal activities to promote and further POH goals and objectives (5%).

* Assist with seasonal and special events. (5%)

Education and Experience

* Associate degree in relevant field preferred. Instead of degree, a combination of education and experience may be considered.

* If the degree is in social work, must be licensed by the state board.

* Previous experience in social services, a food shelf, food services, or administrative support experience required.

* Minnesota Certified Food Protection Manager required or ability to gain certification within 90 days of employment (the organization will pay for the certification).

* Valid driver's license, meet MVR driver's qualifications, and pass background checks.

Competencies

* Knowledge of safe food handling.

* Flexible interpersonal and communication skills.

* Proficient with PC, Microsoft Office, and databases.

Working Conditions

* Prolonged standing, walking, bending, stooping, turning, stretching, reaching, and lifting.

* Must be able to regularly move/lift fifty pounds.

* Business casual environment; not eligible for a remote-friendly work environment.

* Must be able to communicate clearly in English.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Mentor, supervise, schedule, and train food shelf volunteers and staff.

Travel Requirements

Travel using an agency vehicle within the Brainerd area a few times per week to pick-up donations, etc.
