Job Description

Foundations Progressive Learning Center is a childcare facility that cares for up to 40 children at a time. We are a play-based, child-led program, so expect a high-energy, dynamic atmosphere of children being children, making messes, and exploring freely within reasonable boundaries monitored by... you!

We're looking for a childcare support teacher. Someone with an open mind, open heart, and the patience and willingness to always be gentle, kind, loving, and protective of the children that families place in our care. If you're used to environments where the children are to be controlled made to do teacher-led craft activities or worksheets, this will be a culture shock for you, but it doesn't disqualify you. We're willing to train and educate anyone with the motivation to be part of our family, but an inherent belief that children are to be valued as they are now is a must.

Emotional intelligence is important to us, so we believe that instilling self-discipline in children is best. We do this by approaching challenging behaviors mindfully. We want to respond to conflict and issues that arise between children, rather than just react. For this reason, we are looking for someone who has the ability to exhibit impeccable self-control.

This shift is part-time with some potential for overtime. 2:00pm OR 3:00pm - 6:00pm (depending on hours preffered) with plenty of opportunities to accept shifts other teachers give up due to absences. Duties include supervising children throughout all age groups, assisting their teachers, assisting with meals, helping keep the center clean and tidy, and communicating with parents and families.

Support staff need to be 16 years of age or older and able to pass background checks.

Company Description
Foundations Progressive Learning Center is a modern, forward-thinking, play-based learning environment for children, where students engage in natural, creative, and active learning. Our students learn with a balance of working one-on-one with teachers, cooperatively in small groups, and independently with practical life skills.

While we do prepare children for kindergarten, our curriculum is focused on exploring life-long skills. We incorporate self-help and independence skills, such as buttoning and zipping clothing, tying shoes, pouring and serving our own beverages and food, picking up after ourselves, conflict resolution, socialization, and learning healthy emotional management.

Foundations' teachers operate on the knowledge that children need to find and identify interest through uninhibited, free, and dynamic play in order to build strong connections with the world around them. When we find these interests, we build our curriculum on them to teach children not only what they need to know, but also how to love learning and follow where their interests lead them.

Our center is developed by childcare and parenting specialists to lead by example that it is possible to provide an honest, ethical, and functional play-based childcare center for our community that works to do right by the children they teach, the parents they serve, and the teachers they employ.
