POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Under the direction of the director, a Membership Specialist will be responsible for the growth and development of Membership and Front Desk Staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Be knowledgeable and adhere to Safety Policies, Procedures and Emergency Response Plans. Always keeping Safety at the forefront of your mind.
  2. Support the growth of membership and development of the front desk staff through training, coaching, and role modelling to ensure exceptional care and membership service.
  3. Be accessible and available to families and staff and to serve as one of the faces of the YMCA; it is the expectation to serve as the example of the four core values, Respect, Caring, Responsibility, and Honesty, always.
  4. Behave as a role model for a cause-driven human development organization; be passionate about the quality of work and services at the YMCA.
  5. Remain positive and up-beat with a servant mindset in this supporting role.
  6. Value long-term relationships with all YMCA stakeholders.
  7. Be innovative with completing tasks, assisting management with possible solutions to problems.
  8. Available to assist in covering shifts to so there is a membership specialist in the facility during hours of operation.
  9. Assist with Silver Sneaker memberships, corporate memberships, and other special memberships.
  10. Respond to basic member requests and complaints as requested, managing membership correspondence.
  11. Perform data entry and filing, basic office duties such as ordering supplies, program registrations, and membership payments.
  12. Maintain order, assist members, and lead and demonstrate to staff with supervision and duties with specific focus on generating new members and reducing cancellations of memberships.
  13. Meet and exceed membership satisfaction and retention goals.
  14. All front desk operations including scanning membership cards and greeting members.
  15. Communication, promotion and selling of programs by identifying member’s wants and needs and suggesting programs that best fit those wants and needs.
  16. All other clerical duties as assigned.
  17. Apply rules and policies of the YMCA equally to persons in and/or using the facility.
  18. Record unusual events or occurrences and/or inform responsible person(s) as instructed.
  19. Maintain First Responder certifications including First Aid, CPR, and AED, as well as knowing all safety and emergency procedures for the facility and being able to act quickly and responsibly in emergencies.
  20. Contact necessary law enforcement agencies, fire department, supervisor, etc. in the event of abnormality and/or unusual occurrences and sound alarm as warranted or instructed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be 18 years of age or older.
  2. High School Diploma or equivalent.
  3. Experience leading others.
  4. Dedication to the Ozarks Regional YMCA and deliberate in reaching outlined goals. Must be able to align with and demonstrate the YMCA four core values on a consistent basis.
  5. Mature, responsible, easy-going individuals with good communication skills.
  6. Must be able to interact with kids and adults in a positive, enthusiastic, and flexible manner.
  7. CPR Pro & First Aid Certification required within the first 30 days (training can be provided).
