The Cook is responsible for preparing assigned food items by following recipes and portion control guidelines set by the food establishment and supervises line staff, cashiers, and servers in the absence of the FS Manager/Director

Qualifications
- 2 years experience as a line cook, preparation in a food service institutional setting preferred.
- Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of food handling and sanitary standards.
Essential Job Functions include:
- Sets up their stations and restocks items.
- Organizes, sanitizes, and cleans the kitchen, storage areas and coolers including floors.
- Possess basic cooking skills.
- Understands how to use a variety of food service equipment such as knives, pots and pans, ovens, grills, food processors and slicers.
- Prepares ingredients for daily menu offerings. This includes preparing vegetables by washing, chopping, grating and slicing them for inclusion inside dishes, salads, soups and appetizers.
- Prepares meat for cooking, which may involve cutting or slicing it into appropriate portions. Labels all prepared food items with date of preparation, before storing them in appropriate area.
- Makes soups, salads and appetizers, as needed.
- Maintains clean and sanitary conditions in immediate work area. Makes sure that all dishes, pots and pans, and cooking equipment are left clean at the end of shift.
- Promotes a favorable and positive work atmosphere.
- Supervises line staff, and servers, as needed.
- Exhibits a customer friendly attitude.
- May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
