SUMMARY

This position will assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures relating to donor center operations. Provides direction, training and mentoring to team to facilitate efficiency and effectiveness of all processes related to the Donor Center. Accountable for maintaining all safety and regulatory standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Responsible for the leadership and supervision of Donor Center operations including production, excellence in customer and donor service.

o Has overall authority for donor center operations, this includes production goals, monitoring net yields, and implementing improvement plans as needed

o Establish and maintain necessary staffing to manage site workload.

· Ensures site quality compliance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), State and Federal regulations, OSHA, CLIA, and cGMPs standards to ensure facility compliance.

o Review site Quality Control and take part in Quality Assurance initiatives.

o Implement effective corrective action plans as appropriate for non-compliance, customer complaints, departmental deviations.

· Responsible for the determination of donor eligibility, management of donor reactions and/or incidents, review of testing and donor notification of eligibility to donate per SOPs.

o Collect and aid in donation procedures as appropriate.

· Aid in the Implementation donor retention improvement and corrective action plans and Identify opportunities enhanced efficiencies and for improved quality and compliance of both product and workflow/environment.

o Monitor donor retention and ensure efficient donor flow.

o Meet daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines and maintain operational records.

o Develop and foster a center philosophy of continuous improvement and support company values.

· Oversee donor screening process, phlebotomy, complete medical histories, and donor scheduling and communicate with the Medical Director for technical, donor safety and eligibility issues, document results and outcomes as applicable.

o Create a welcoming environment for donors to increase donor retention.

· Supervise staff including the hiring, training, evaluation, discipline, and recognition to ensure a well-qualified team and to enhance operational and business success.

o Ensure staff tasks are performed at adequate proficiency levels and oversee the training of employees in the performance of those tasks and duties.

· Manage supply inventory to the optimum levels by maximizing efficiencies, customer service levels and minimizing investment.

· Ensure effective internal and external communications between functional teams to foster teamwork, enhance operational success, and support strategic initiatives.

· Responsible for the management of maintenance and/or routine service and calibration of scientific and technical instrumentation and equipment.

· Oversee and ensure a clean and functioning donor center facility through a daily, weekly, monthly and/or annual cleaning and maintenance program.

· Perform other duties, as necessary.

· Awareness and approval of site expenditures.

· Manage customer and regulatory audits.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Minimum three (3) years’ experience recruiting, hiring, training, and managing the performance of employees.

· Minimum one (1) year experience with responsibility for financial management and/or budgeting.

· Preferred minimum three (3) years’ experience within in blood banking, lab management or related field.

· Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

· Associate degree, diploma or B.S. in Nursing.

· Highly motivated and assertive.

· Strong multitasking abilities to complete activities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations

· Current Licensure in good standard

Language Skills

· Good oral/written communication

Mathematical Skills

· Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, algebra and proportions to practical situations.

· Ability to perform routine calculations as directed.

· Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

· Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Reasoning Ability

· Ability to troubleshoot method and instrument issues, as needed.

· Ability to follow standard operating procedures.

Other Skills and Abilities

· Proficiency in a variety of computer software programs including MS Office

· Ability to work in a team donor center and laboratory environment.


TRAVEL

This position may require up to 5% travel over the course of a year.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.

· Ability to tug, lift, and pull up to thirty-five pounds.

· Ability to bend, stoop, or kneel.

· Occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens.

· Ability to view video display terminal less than 18” away from face for extended periods of time, up to four (4) hours at a time.
