We currently have an opportunity for a Survey Technician to join our construction crews. Surveyors play a pivotal role in project layout and completion of projects at LHC. 

 

Key Functions

  • Provide precise locations, elevation and depths of roads, building structures, foundations, utilities, project limits and data in all phases of diverse projects. 
  • Analyze and apply construction plans to provide accurate data in the field to LHC employees and sub-contractors on multiple job sites 
  • Measure distances and angles between points on, above and below the Earth’s surface
  • Travel to locations and select known reference points to determine the exact location of important features
  • Establish fixed points for use in making maps, using geodetic and engineering instruments
  • Properly maintain surveying instruments to ensure accuracy
  • Use GPS and GIS systems
  • Compute geodetic measurements and interpret survey data in order to determine positions, shapes, and elevations of geomorphic and topographic features
  • Analyze survey objectives and specifications in order to prepare survey proposals or to direct others in survey proposal preparation
  • Establish stake sites and set job control
  • Research land records, survey records and land titles
  • Identify evidence of previous boundaries
  • Record the results of surveying and verify the accuracy of data
  • Prepare plots, maps and reports
  • Strict adherence to complying with safety policies and procedure

 

Qualifications

  • Grade-setting experience strongly preferred
  • Minimum two (2) years of construction experience preferred
  • Experience with Trimble GPS software strongly preferred
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Willingness to learn

 

Extra Consideration

  • Proficiency in Trimble and Top-Con instrumentation 
  • Heavy machinery geodetic and UTS guidance experience
  • Construction staking and layout
  • Part 107 Drone/UAV License
  • Pix4Dmapper experience
  • GIS experience

 

Specific Skills

  • Work safely and follow all safety rules and regulations
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
  • Proficient in using the Microsoft Office suite
  • Team oriented with the ability to work independently when necessary with minimal direct supervision

 

Physical Requirements

  • Capable of lifting 50 to 75 lbs. regularly
  • Move safely, quickly, and perform duties with repetitious movement
  • Sit and/or stand for long periods of time
  • Reach with hands and arms
  • Bend at the waist, kneel, stoop, squat, twist, push and pull
  • Climb ladders/steps
  • Continuous use of hand tools for extended periods of time
  • Walk varying distances and on uneven ground at times
  • Must be able to tolerate all weather elements, loud conditions, and vibrations

 

Compensation

  • Hourly rate of pay $28 to $34 an hour based on experience
