SUMMARY

Family Service League is seeking a full-time Weekend Supervisor for a homeless shelter in Port Jefferson Station. The Weekend Supervisor will perform a wide variety of tasks to ensure effective and efficient operation during the weekend at the shelter. The Weekend Supervisor will be responsible for providing services and support to all clients, overseeing staff, and ensuring that the operational policies and procedures are always being followed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Weekend Supervisor will oversee staff, including recruiting, hiring, training, developing, and conducting supervisions and performance appraisals.
  • Ensure all Agency and shelter rules, policies and procedures are followed to maintain a safe environment for clients and staff.
  • The Weekend Supervisor will promote client success by providing information and support to clients.
  • Assist with intake procedures.
  • Ensure effective shelter operations and recommend operational improvements to administration.
  • Model ethical behavior and support a team environment.
  • The Weekend Supervisor will assess problem situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations to resolve the problem.
  • Provide coverage for uncovered shifts in emergency situations.
  • Work in partnership with the Program Director; seek supervisory input as needed.
  • Comply with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Answer all emails, phone calls, and voicemails in a timely manner.
  • Attend all required trainings timely.
  • All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field preferred.

Minimum of 3 years of related experience required.

Previous supervisory experience preferred.

Excellent interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills required.

Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, required.

Valid and clean NYS Driver’s License required.

Flexibility to work at different sites is preferred.
