Job Title: Student Maintenance Assistant (Student Position)

Reports To: Assistant Director of Facilities Operations

Location: East Stroudsburg University – Sycamore Suites Residence Hall

Compensation: $15.00 per hour. Position not eligible for benefits

Number of Positions: 3

FLSA Status: Student Non-Exempt

Summary

The primary responsibilities of the Student Maintenance Assistant position are to support the facilities staff at Sycamore Suites with cleaning and maintaining the residential community. This includes not limited to, removing all trash room all trash rooms, cleaning common area spaces (including 1st floor restrooms, lounges and kitchens), cleaning window glass and vacuuming hallways/entrance areas.

Key Responsbilities:

  • Assists in sweeping and vacuuming of hallways, stairwells, entrance areas and other common areas.
  • Emptying trash from common area trash rooms and RA security office area.
  • Removing all trash collected to trash dumpsters located outside the community.
  • Cleans window glass in entrance areas and RA security office area.
  • Cleans grounds and removes litter and debris from sidewalks.
  • Maintains all common areas and 1st floor restrooms are in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Assists in moving furniture in and out of student rooms and between buildings.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Current student at East Stroudsburg University
  • Ability to work 4 hours each day on Saturdays and Sundays. Work additional hours during week around class and student involvement schedules.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and navigate up and down stairs.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in verbal communication.
  • Possess strong customer service skills.
  • Must have troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.

Work Hours

Each position is anticipated to work 12-15 hours a week. The work schedule will consist of 4 hours each day on Saturday and Sunday and the remaining hours will be scheduled around classes and student involvement obligations Monday through Friday between 8:00am- 4:30pm.
