Description/Job Summary

Position SummaryThe General Clerk II performs various clerical duties as required using Army Food Service Management Information System-Dining Facility Operations (AFMIS-DFO). The General Clerk II does production schedules, cash turn-ins, kitchen requests and returns, inventories and headcount using the subsystem structure of AFMIS-DFO. Posts and maintains files and records.

Position Accountabilities
The following are essential job accountabilities:

  1. Create and print Production Schedule and kitchen requisition in AFMIS-DFO (Army Food Management Information System-Dining Facility Operations) using the IMT 35 day menus.
  2. Update menu screen as needed.
  3. Ensure all Production Schedules are ready prior to meals for cooks to follow.
  4. Collect and verify cash at end of each meal. Ensure each cash box has adequate change for each register.
  5. Assist DFAC manager with preparing cash turn-ins using AFMIS and OTC net.
  6. Inventory all dining facilities office supplies.
  7. Ensure that administrative procedures are followed if cash meal payment sheets are used.
  8. Assist new employees with training on headcount procedures.
  9. Maintains and pulls the "Go for the Green" cards for each meal.
  10. Assist in reporting daily time sheet hours to the Office Manager for Food Service employees. Assist managers with adjustments and corrections when necessary. Could be required to communicate with the Payroll Manager for payroll issues and problems. Cross-train on the ADP payroll system. Sorts paychecks for distribution to dining facility managers every two weeks.
  11. Assist DFAC manager with filing of employee's training and discipline folders, etc. (miscellaneous file).
  12. Keeps track of all new hire employees' probation.
  13. Maintain absolute confidentiality on all proprietary information and information related to Food Service matters, except as specifically directed.
  14. Assist DFAC Manager with menu changes or updates.
  15. Assist the Quality Manager with tasks related to Food Service.
  16. Type material as required and operates other office machines, equipment, and computer.
  17. Participate in cross-training programs to increase proficiency in assigned duties; develops required skills to qualify for advancement.
  18. Maintain work station free of conditions which may cause health, fire, property damage or personal injury.
  19. Perform various administrative and clerical duties as directed.
  20. Perform other duties as assigned.
  21. The General Clerk II is delegated authority to take appropriate action within the limits of approved policies, regulations and procedures to accomplish assigned duties.


Position Qualifications


Typical Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year (1) office experience desirable.
Field of Expertise:
  • Administrative skills, data entry and customer service.
Skills: Administrative:
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English and apply general math functions.
  • Must understand and be able to use Technical Manuals.
  • Must be able to train and cross-train subordinates.
  • Must demonstrate progressive and continuing professional competency growth.
  • Must have the ability to follow instructions and adjust to rapidly changing requirements.
  • Communicate effectively and work well with others.
  • Must have basis knowledge of computers (Microsoft Word, Excel); and familiar with the Army Food Mangement Information Systems (AFMIS) and EBS payroll system is desired.
Mental Requisites:
  • Required to work under stressful circumstances and meet short suspense dates.
  • May be required, on an as-needed basis, to assist or perform in other special assignments.
Supervisory Experience:
  • None required.
Physical Demands:
  • Must be free of medical restrictions/limitations that prevent the performance of the required duties.
Unique Qualifications:
  • Must be a United States citizen or be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must be eighteen year of age.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.
  • Must possess a NAC security clearance or the ability to acquire it.
