Job Summary
C2 Environmental, Inc. is a small, rapidly growing business located in the Commonwealth of Virginia. We focus on environmental planning, permitting and compliance services for a variety of clients including regional utility providers, federal agencies, educational institutions, local governments, and private sector developers within the Mid-Atlantic region. We are well-known for our work in the energy and infrastructure sectors where we provide a suite of services for electric transmission facilities as well as coastal and waterfront facilities. C2 Environmental is seeking a qualified individual for the Senior Regulatory Specialist position

Responsibilities
The Senior Regulatory Specialist position is responsible for a variety of project, task and staff management in support of programmatic environmental services for utility, commercial, and waterfront infrastructure development projects. Duties may include coordinating with clients and overseeing junior staff for the strategic planning of project scoping and delivery, preparation of permit applications and environmental documentation, assisting with or leading field data collection and surveys, GIS applications for preparation of impacts maps and other project related graphics, report writing and other office- and field-related functions. The qualified applicant will have experience or strong familiarity in one or more of the following fields: Section 404/401 permitting, utility routing and siting, regulatory processes and applications as they pertain to land development and linear projects, and GIS applications.

The position requires strong communication skills as this position will be responsible for direct coordination with clients in both written and verbal formats. As a senior leadership position within the company, the position requires oversight of staff, development and implementation of programmatic procedures, and is responsible for ensuring quality and consistency of project deliverables in accordance with company and client standards.

Qualifications
  • B.S. or M.S. degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, geology, biology or similar field
  • 5-10 years experience in environmental science with specific emphasis on the areas noted below
  • Proficient knowledge and understanding of Section 404/401 regulations, Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act, Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, wetland delineation guidelines, NEPA, and other related regulatory policies
  • Additional experience in DOT permitting, railroad permitting, county and local approvals is also desired
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple complex projects/tasks preferably in an environmental consulting firm setting
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and train junior staff
  • Basic proficiency in GIS
  • Direct experience with utilities and linear projects strongly desired
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work well in diverse groups of people and without direct supervision
  • Valid drivers license and ability to travel to remote job site locations as needed
  • Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions and terrain
