Nutrition Services Assistant

FT Shift available Monday thru Friday and every other weekend 7:30am-4:00pm

Job Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Director, the Nutrition Services Assistant assists the diet clerk with answering phone calls , late trays, tray line and provides communication with the diet clerk for new diet orders when the diet clerk is collecting menu preferences.  The Assistant also provides aid to the cooks with alternative menu items that are specified on the production sheet.  You would perform other duties as assigned and take initiative to assist whenever needed.

The Essential Functions:

• Coordinates patient diet and menu information from the EMR to the menu software
• Demonstrates interpersonal skills necessary to provide a positive reflection of the department to our customers both internal and external
• Functions as a starter on patient tray line
• Assembles and delivers late patient trays as needed
• Demonstrates knowledge of specific diets and age-specific food requirements
• Recognizes and assists help in the department when needed

Skills and Abilities:

• High School graduate or GED required
• Prior health care food service helpful, but not required
