DELI LEAD

Regular Full Time - $22.00-$25.00/HR

SHIFTS: All shifts - (Complete Open Availability) - Weekends Required

Essential Functions:

  • Act as a liaison between staff and management
  • Assist in development and training of new employees
  • Follow and enforce all applicable State of California Health and Safety Codes
  • Complete and maintain all proper dating and labeling for all prepped items
  • Provide and maintain excellent and quality service to customers
  • Follow established weights and measures procedures (tares)
  • Setup, prepare and maintain food displays
  • Use proper rotation in cases
  • Package, weigh and price food
  • Utilizing the slicer or other equipment to cut and prepare meat, cheese, etc.
  • Stock and order product
  • Aid in product and production preparation
  • Participate in catering services
  • Implementing waste management
  • May occasionally aid in unloading delivery orders
  • Clean equipment, work areas as well as safe job areas (floors, worktables, etc.)
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Physical requirements:

  • The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Some requirements may be modified to accommodate individuals with disabilities:
  • While performing the duty of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach and occasionally crawl, kneel and squat
  • The employee must be able to bend and twist at waist and neck.
  • The employee must occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and regularly lift up to 15 pounds while carrying ingredients, dishes, oil for the deep fryer or deli equipment
  • The employee must be able to reach above and below shoulders to access items in cabinets, shelves, and cases and on racks.
  • The employee must be able to use their fingers to operate a mouse in order to change labels and prices
  • The employee must be able to work around heavy kitchen equipment and machinery such as but not limited to: slicers, hot bar, salad bar, mixers, fryer, stoves, ovens steamer and dishwasher
  • The employee must be able to tolerate regular pushing, pulling, grasping, gripping and manipulation of hands and fingers in order to prepare sandwiches, dishes and set up displays
  • The employee must be able to tolerate intermittent noise from meat and bread slicer, overhead fans, steamers, customers and overhead speakers
  • The employee must be able to work with nuts, dairy, grains, fresh fruits, and vegetables and without suffering negative allergic consequences that impact performance
  • The employee must be able to tolerate some work in extreme temperatures while working near chilled display cases, hot bar, the ovens, fryer or dishwasher
  • The employee must be able to tolerate moderate amounts of chemical fumes from cleaning agents
  • The employee must wear gloves when using knives and slicer machinery, aprons when preparing food and protective eyewear when using products to clean equipment
  • The employee must wear non-slip shoes at all times
