Job Title: English Teacher

Direct Supervisor: Principal

Contract Days: 10 Months (Academic School Year)

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Establish daily objectives that align to the Common Core Standards and Missouri Learning Standards
  • Plan for, differentiate and guide the learning process to ensure all students achieve the objectives
  • Facilitate “hands-on” activities and real world learning projects that allow students to learn by experiencing and exploring
  • Implement useful formative and summative assessment measures
  • Select and utilize effective instructional methods and learning materials
  • Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment that is conducive to learning
  • Use discipline models of Restorative Justice to maintain a positive, encouraging learning environment
  • Establish a cooperative and collaborative relationship with students, staff  and families to achieve the overall purposes of the school program
  • Maintain open lines of communication with parents/guardians
  • Participate in routine meetings, trainings and professional development
  • Regular and dependable attendance
  • Additional assigned duties such as lunch duty, early arrival AM duty, dismissal duty etc.

Position Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
  • A valid Missouri Teacher's Certificate (applicable level-area endorsements preferred)
  • Ability to pass an extensive background check
  • Evidence of the willingness and the ability to comply with the standards for ethical and professional performance established by the State Board of Education and DLS HS
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong PC skills
  • Organized, self-starter with the ability to adapt to support the best interest of the student
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding students
