Clearance Requirement: Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance Travel Requirements: Negligible Location: Norfolk, VA SUMMARY: WR has an opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to participate in the manufacturing of prototype products, design 3D models and fabrication drawings, conduct feasibility analyses, and collaborate on the development of various products and systems. They coordinate installation activities, evaluate field installations, and compile operational data, playing a key role in ensuring adherence to specifications and optimizing machine utilization. Position responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following: Actively participate in the manufacturing or construction of prototype products and systems, following specific directives. Design and develop 3D models of single and complex parts, ensuring compliance with performance requirements, and create fabrication and assembly drawings according to ASME Y14 standards. Conduct comprehensive research and analysis of data, such as customer design proposals and specifications, to assess design feasibility. Design various products or systems; addressing factors like instruments, controls, robots, engines, and mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, or heat transfer systems. Develop design changes to enhance safety and resolve associated impacts, perform stress and material strength analyses, and collaborate on the fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment. Coordinate activities related to product installation, operation, maintenance, and repair, ensuring adherence to engineering design and customer specifications. Design products and systems to interface machines, hardware, and software, evaluate field installations, and recommend modifications for improved functionality. Compile operational, test, and research data. Prepare fabrication solicitations to obtain pricing estimates for items within assemblies or systems, analyzing results to determine the best value. Candidates must possess the following knowledge, skills, and experience: Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar. · Three (3)+ years of professional engineering design, test, and analysis experience in one of the following areas: o Shock and vibration, and/or Airborne and structure borne noise; o Heat transfer/dissipation, o Chassis, o Circuit Card, o Harness layout for Optimization of Mechanical Design for accessibility and ease of Repair and Replacement. o Note: Experience may be concurrent · Proficiency in working with CAD software; Autodesk products preferred. · Understanding of technical drawing principles IAW ASME Y14.100. · Proficiency in MS Office. · Experience with contractual related project/work environment a plus. · Equivalent experience in a mechanical engineering discipline may be substituted in lieu of degree depending on domain experience and contractual requirements.
