Job Summary:

As a Shop & Grounds Maintenance Worker your primary responsibility is to ensure the upkeep, cleanliness, and functionality of both indoor and outdoor spaces within our facilities. You will be tasked with performing various maintenance duties related to the shop area as well as the surrounding grounds. This role requires a combination of manual labor, technical skills, and attention to detail to maintain a safe and pleasant environment.

 

Roles and Responsibilities: 

Including but not limited to the list below.

 

  1. Shop Maintenance:
    • Keep the shop area clean, organized, and free of hazards. Sweep and power clean floors, empty garbage, clean and restock bathrooms.
    • Maintain an inventory of tools, materials, and supplies, and reorder items as necessary.
  2. Ground Maintenance:
    • Monitor irrigation systems and perform basic repairs or adjustments as needed.
    • Remove debris, litter, and fallen branches from walkways, parking lots, and other outdoor areas.
    • Apply pesticides and herbicides according to safety guidelines and regulatory requirements.
    • Clear snow and ice from sidewalks and pathways during inclement weather.
    • Operate ride-on sweeper to clean parking lot.
    • Monitor landscaping and trim trees and bushes as required.
  3. General Maintenance:
    • Conduct minor repairs and maintenance tasks throughout the facility, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work.
    • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff or management and prioritize tasks based on urgency.
    • Perform janitorial duties such as sweeping, mopping, and cleaning restrooms to maintain cleanliness standards.
    • Assist in setting up for events or activities by arranging furniture, setting up equipment, and ensuring adequate supplies are available.
  4. Safety and Compliance:
    1. Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries in the workplace.
    2. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow proper procedures when handling hazardous materials or operating machinery.
    3. Maintain records of maintenance activities, safety inspections, and equipment servicing to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred. Any vocational training is strongly desired.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Proven experience in maintenance or grounds-keeping roles preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Ability to operate maintenance equipment such as power tools and snow blowers safely and efficiently.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to get to and from work.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able and willing to work long hours, including responding to emergency maintenance situations.
  • Able to walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
  • Able to work in outside environments being subjected to weather changes, noise, vibrations, and job hazards.
  • Ability to do physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks.
  • Good manual dexterity.
