Easterseals New York, a Fedcap program, is currently hiring for a part-time Human Services Caregiver - Respite Worker to provide short-term relief for primary caregivers by working with clients with disabilities in the Rochester, NY area. This part-time caregiving position earns a competitive wage.

DAY-TO-DAY

This part-time entry-level caregiving position in human services works a flexible schedule that includes days, evenings, and weekends.

As a part-time Human Services Caregiver - Respite Worker with our nonprofit, you're responsible for providing temporary companion care services for individuals with disabilities. You provide protective oversight for your assigned individual as well as assist with personal caregiving tasks such as medication management, eating, and dressing. Following instructions from our care coordination team, you adhere to each client's service plan and encourage self-reliance while maintaining confidentiality for the individual and their family.

In addition, you complete and maintain all required documentation for the position as well as work in accordance with several state agencies. You regularly cooperate with clients, primary caregivers, families, and program supervisors, demonstrating your ability to maintain a professional demeanor. When emergency situations arise, you accurately follow established policies and procedures to ensure the safety of your client. You also engage in regular communication with other agency employees, including supervisors and our program administrative team.

Using your strong computer skills, you check your email account, create and send emails, and navigate simple email features. You also use spreadsheets and word-processing documents to read and make simple edits. At times, you transport clients, families, or other staff to and from locations as requested for the program. Helping others is what you were meant to do, and it brings you great satisfaction to know your caregiving services contribute to our human services nonprofit in such a big way!

REQUIREMENTS FOR A HUMAN SERVICES CAREGIVER - RESPITE WORKER

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working with children and adults, particularly those diagnosed with autism or other developmental disabilities
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to meet the physical, emotional, and intellectual needs of children and adults diagnosed with a developmental disability
  • Ability to drive an agency vehicle to transport clients as needed
  • Basic computer skills
  • Covid-19 vaccination
