The Finishing Service Technician reports to the Finish Division Supervisor and oversees multiple independently run swine finishing sites across Southern MN and Northern Iowa.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interface with Holden Farms Contract Partners to implement and manage Holden Farms protocols and standards at sites
  • Visit assigned farm sites once a week and walk all pens with growers.
  • Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with Contract Partners/Growers
  • Check and understand all waters, feeders, controllers, and ventilation to address concerns with the grower.
  • Responsible for ensuring feed budgets are followed and collecting feed samples.
  • Implement and manage biosecurity standards at farm sites
  • Oversee the health of the herd and train growers on how to identify treatments.
  • Address and enforce any issues that are out of compliance with Contract Partners
  • Scheduled all pig movement for assigned sites.
  • Maintain regular communication with Contract Growers, Truckers, HFI staff, Feed Mills, and HFI Veterinarians through phone, email, and text.
  • Must have a Valid Driver’s License and a reliable Truck for transportation

  • Occasionally lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
  • Must be able to work with and around a wide range of antibiotics (i.e. penicillin).
  • Must tolerate blood, manure, dust, odors, and frequently noisy conditions.
No previous experience working with pigs required.
