Sanford Federal is looking for a qualified constant observation technician to support the mission of the Pittsburg VA Healthcare System.

Job Details:

  • Job Title: Constant Observation Technician (COT)/Sitters
  • Location: VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System (VAPHS UD Division, University Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15240
  • Schedule: Full-time & Part-time option.

Requirements & Skills:

  • SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrates an independent work initiative, sound judgment and attention to detail
  • Ability to organize workload and use effective time management
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to cultural diversity, race, gender, and others individual differences in the workplace
  • Must have CPR certification

Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assists in maintaining a healthful, safe environment
  • Keeps the hospital client in constant eye contact during entire assigned shift
  • Assists the client with ambulating by providing stand by assistance
  • Follows universal precautions whenever giving any aspect of client care
  • Responds to the physical, emotional and developmental needs of the patient
  • Follows emergency procedures in the event of any incident, accident, injury, or significant changes in the patient' condition
  • Reports any changes in patient's mental or physical condition, suspicion of ingesting questionable substances, or items brought to the room by visitors to the staff nurse
  • May provide non-medical personal care, light housekeeping, laundry, and prepare small meals for residents and patients as needed
  • Contributes to positive team spirit
