Job Title: Quality Lead


OVERVIEW: As a Quality Lead you will be responsible for managing your team, overseeing the day-to-day operations, ensuring that process standards are achieved to produce consistent, safe, high-quality ESL and UHT beverages. The Quality Lead will be responsible for helping their team with micro testing, environmental testing, shelf-life samples, ensuring aseptic packets are correct, GMP auditing, pathogen testing and antibiotic sampling.


We are seeking someone who will contribute daily to the progress of plant start up and commissioning. Candidate will assist in creation of documents and training procedures.


You Will:

  • Provides oversight to food safety and food quality assurance personnel.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor team members on your shift.
  • Manage relationships with other plant leadership and support other departments to ensure efficiency throughout all operations.
  • Provide detailed daily report outs for quality on production runs, customer complaints and customer request.
  • Ensure detailed logs are kept for equipment, antibiotics reports to the state, inventory, and quality tracking.
  • Evaluate staffing needs and production floor needs, monitor performance, and communicate with plant leadership to maintain all schedule expectations.
  • Always provide proactive support and solutions.
  • Monitor and manage use of our ERP system to ensure accurate record keeping for test and release criteria. Ensure that your team is executing procedures properly.
  • Inspect plant for cleanliness, quality and document results accurately.
  • Learn not only the tasks required for the assigned job, but also understand the reason why each step is important in the production process of ESL and Aseptic products.
  • Oversee the dairy plant processes, following SOP’s and GMP’s, ensuring documentation is accurately executed. Troubleshoot and resolve minor and moderate bottlenecks and reports efficiency opportunities and any food safety concerns to leadership.
  • Ensures all required safety practices are followed, including PPE usage, chemical handling, and OSHA standards. Responsible for reporting all safety concerns to leadership.
  • Actively participate in RCAs, routine plant inspections, state audits and customer audits.
  • Collecting, analyzing, and publishing measurement data to determine the root cause of process and food safety problems and recommending action to resolve those problems.
  • Actively capable of performing mock recalls.
  • Ensure codes, weights, and product packaging meets standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Immediately report and escalate any deviation from food safety and quality programs.
  • Coordinate training of personnel for equipment, materials, and plant standards.
  • Maintain an action tracker for your team and establish accountability with team to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Ensure appropriate processes and standards are in place and followed to keep producing quality beverages, maintain high performance, and generate robust records.
  • Report micro testing issues for your shift and work with support departments to address causal factors.
  • Maintain accurate and precise records of materials for your shift and properly set up the next shift for smooth turnover.
  • Always maintain work area and your personnel in audit-ready status.
  • Engages with team and all other departments to troubleshoot and problem solve in real-time.
  • Identify and work to resolve issues that inhibit the departments achievement of KPIs.
  • Participate in cross functional teams focused on reducing micro testing problems and improving performance, resolving quality concerns, and leverage situations where your expertise can add value.
  • Monitor work schedules of staff to ensure all tasks are completed.
  • Report to work, training, and meetings on time, when scheduled.
  • Enforce and adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Continuous training to foster employee understanding and engagement in all aspects of safety, food safety, and overall quality.
  • Enable your team to be successful by ensuring they have the tools needed and being available to answer questions.
  • Coach and inspire the team to help them realize their optimal performance and success.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Completion of high school diploma or GED program and have 5+ years of leadership experience in food/beverage manufacturing plant or similar field.
  • The ideal candidate will be proficient in micro testing.
  • Streak plating, Petrie film testing, shelf life studies, environmental pathogen testing, and antibiotic testing experience is a plus.
  • Familiar with milk testing equipment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, be decisive, and possess the ability to multitask.
  • Knowledge of basic math and reading comprehension skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft office programs.

  • Be capable of standing/walking for an entire shift.
  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company.
  • Familiar with current communication tools and platforms (collaboration tools, instead messaging, blogs, etc.) to keep our organization well informed in a timely manner.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records in accordance with company standards.
