Early Head Start – Teacher-in-Training


Do you have a passion to make a difference and positively impact young children and their families? At YCCAC Head Start, we are more than a daycare. We are committed to providing high-quality child care and comprehensive education, health and well-being services to children from 6 weeks to 5 years. We are now hiring a Teacher in Training to join us in our mission of creating a warm and supportive environment where children and families can thrive.

  • $5,000 sign-on bonus payable in four installments ($1,000 after completion of months 3, 6, 9 & $2,000 after 1 year – external applicants only).

Your role:

  • Plans, implements and documents a comprehensive child development program for infants and toddlers.
  • Assumes responsibilities of Primary Caregiving, assuring continuity of care.
  • Develops child focused goals in partnership with families, adheres to timelines and coordinates center/home visits with each family.
  • Ensures Agency’s full compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and Maine State Licensing Requirements.
  • Educational assistance.

Qualifications:

  • The Teacher-in-Training must obtain an Infant/Toddler CDA 12 months after they are hired in the position. YCCAC will financially support the Teacher-in-Training with completing their CDA.
  • Experience in a center or home-based setting, specializing in infant and toddlers preferred.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours to meet families’ needs and have a reliable vehicle for travel.
  • Immunized against MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) and TDaP (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis).
  • Must be able to pass a background check, to include DHHS and fingerprinting.
