Cavern Tour Guide

Description

The Tour Guide is responsible for ensuring guest satisfaction by learning and accurately delivering approved tour scripts and serving as the resource for any and all information about the Caverns at Natural Bridge. The Guide will lead Cavern tours with groups as large as 40 people up to six times daily, act as cashier in the gift shop, and assist guests with ticket sales.

Essential Functions:

• Guide patrons on tours; each tour is about 45 minutes long; each tour is ½ mile.
• Greet guests in a courteous and professional manner.
• Understand and speak confidently about all aspects of the Caverns and local attractions.
• Respond to customer questions and requests.
• Responsible for the safety of tour guests.
• Assist guests in ticket and merchandise sales in gift shop.
• Assist in maintenance and cleaning of the building and the upkeep of trail and grounds.
• Maintain professional demeanor and appearance.
• Other duties and tasks as assigned by manager.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED, with some post-secondary education preferred.
• Comfortable with public speaking and presentations in English; good written and verbal skills.
• Previous guest services experience preferred.
• Accurate cash handling ability required.
• Ability to work well with coworkers and guests.
• Must possess organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy.

Physical Requirements:

• Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of up to 50 lbs.
• Able to hike several miles per day. Able to stand and walk for long periods of time to conduct tours.
