Description:
The Medical Records Clerk will be filing and scanning thousands of medical records for the Health Information Management Department at a major healthcare network in the state of Connecticut. This is an on-site position located in Trumbull, Connecticut.
Major Responsibilities
- Opens/closes access to client records, purges closed files for storage, thins overflow records out of active area, sorts and files forms, reviews clinical records for completeness prior to filing and returns incomplete forms to senders for completion. Tracks and reports delinquencies of documents necessary for record closing.
- Completes high volume of scanning into Electronic Medical Record system.
- Files appropriate clinical forms and correspondence in medical records in an accurate and timely manner.
- Performs record audit related tasks as required by licensing bodies, payers and accreditation organizations by reviewing for accuracy and timeliness.
- Maintains confidentiality and security of medical records and department information according to established procedures with no reported errors by ensuring that only authorized individuals have access to the medical records room/records.
- Provides medical records training to clerical support staff who are responsible for maintaining medical records.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
