The Design Assistant supports Décor Direct’s business efforts to deliver a customer experience consistent with the Schell brand promise. This position provides direct administrative and design support to a high-producing residential interior decorating firm.

We are looking for a high energy, detail-oriented, extremely organized individual with strong computer skills, a basic understanding of common design concepts and artistic sense. This position supports the design process overall and plays an integral role in client communication.


Design responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Act as the first point of contact for clients in the studio and on the phone by responding in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Greet all visitors and guests upon entering the studio and provide appropriate assistance.
  • Learn and uses language of design, window treatments, and home furnishings to assist clients in getting oriented to the space and our process.
  • Support the team by prepping packets for meetings, drafting proposals, looking up pricing, confirming stock status of product and other proposal-related activities.
  • Follow up with homeowner leads to schedule design appointments.
  • Maintain a daily check of the studio to ensure cleanliness and tidiness.
  • Periodically needed to help merchandise and reset the studio.
  • Update ecommerce website on a weekly basis.
  • Manage phone traffic including, but not limited to, answering and directing calls, retrieving and forwarding messages from voice-mail and activating messages system at end of the day.
  • Update Hubspot contact records where appropriate.
  • Assist Design Consultants and Design Center Managers with general administrative and clerical duties required for daily function of business.
  • Update internal software where appropriate.
  • Assist the President in administrative tasks.
  • Perform data entry across all departments.
  • Perform any other duties as required.
Requirements:

  • Proficient in Microsoft applications: PowerPoint, Excel and Google Suite of Products.

  • Must be self-directed, have excellent initiative and organizational skills
  • Works well under stress with the ability to deliver on time
  • Excellent verbal and written communications

Familiar with the following software programs is preferred:

  • Hubspot
  • Quickbooks
  • Katana
  • BigCommerce or Shopify
  • Phones.com
  • Square Point-of-Sale
  • Fyle
  • Google Applications including Gmail, Sheets, Slides, and Drive
  • Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Powerpoint


The position is hourly plus bonus based on business benchmarks and measurable goals.
