Job Description
Summary/Objective
This position has primary responsibility for development, implementation and oversight of comprehensive EHS policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy working environment. He/she will be responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable OSHA and EPA standards as well as other applicable local, state and federal regulatory and certification requirements.
Essential Functions
- Regularly inspects the facility inside and out to identify potential safety, health, and environmental risks.
- Works with other members of the team to mitigate and/or eliminate potential risks.
- Develops and implements inspection checklists and procedures, develops and enforces schedule of routine inspections. Maintains inspection documentation.
- Maintains required documentation related to safety and environmental practices; participates in audits by insurance companies and third parties as required.
- Leads safety committee meetings and acts as liaison between the committee and the management team.
- Ensures employees receive required annual OSHA training and other training related to EHS. Develop and/or procure relevant training documents and tools.
- Develops and implements health and safety procedures for all areas of the company.
- Develops and maintains the facility emergency response plan.
- Monitors compliance with safety procedures.
- Leads and/or assists in accident investigations and development of appropriate corrective actions.
- Performs safety sign offs on new and existing equipment used in the manufacturing process.
- Research and recommend appropriate PPE utilization in each area of the facility.
- Ensures chemicals used in the facility and manufacturing process are properly labeled, stored and disposed of per current regulatory requirements.
- Ensures that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible by employees when needed.
- Maintains records of discharge of and employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as required.
- Performs other related duties as may be required.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Health & Safety or other related field
- An equivalent combination of work experience and education will be considered.
- 5+ years in an EHS leadership role.
- Experience working with composites preferred.
- Experience working within the aerospace industry preferred.
- Formal OSHA training is preferred.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no direct supervisory responsibility. However, must be able to influence others in order to successfully perform the role.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
This job operates in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. This role routinely uses and/or is exposed to equipment used in the composites manufacturing process, cutting devices, hand tools, computers, handheld scanners, etc. Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for up to 10 hours per day. Must be able to repetitively lift to 50 lbs.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday during day shift hours. Evening and weekend overtime work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
Limited travel up to 10% may be required for various training activities.
