As the Lead Baker, you will be responsible for overseeing the preparation of items made from scratch, managing pre-made items, proofing and baking, as well as contributing to product development. THE ROLE

As the Lead Baker at Mothership Coffee Roasters, you are at the periphery of our growth-oriented company. Your genuine care for attention to detail, taking pride in producing high-quality baked products and dedication to our unique culture will make you a key player in our team.  You will oversee daily production schedules to meet order demand and maintain an adequate supply of fresh products at all times.


As you lead by example, you will manage production of baked goods for all locations, working closely with the management team to ensure seamless operations and adherence to our core values. Your proficiency in managing inventory levels, complying with health and safety regulations, and effective communication will be a crucial part of your role. Your commitment to excellence will contribute to the continued success and growth of Mothership Coffee Roasters.


Duties of a Lead Baker Include: 

  • Lead by example while overseeing quality control.
  • Take lead in crafting a diverse range of artisanal baked goods.
  • Understanding of bakery production processes, proofing, and baking techniques.
  • Ensure the consistent quality, taste, and appearance of all baked products.
  • Oversees daily production schedules to meet demand. 
  • Maintain an adequate supply of fresh products.
  • Ability to contribute to product development.
  • Strong organizational and inventory management skills.
  • Sense of urgency to place orders timely to avoid shortages.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot bakery equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Comply with health and safety regulations.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work environment to uphold the highest hygiene standards.
  • Train and mentor bakery team members, providing guidance and support to maximize their skills.
  • Lead and inspire the bakery team, provide training, and ensure a cohesive and productive work environment.
  • Effectively communicate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and timely deliveries.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and guidelines, including those related to food safety and labor laws.
  • Work efficiently to control costs and minimize waste, while maintaining the quality of baked goods.



Required skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At Least 2 years of proven experience as a Lead Baker or similar role in a high-volume bakery or restaurant setting.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, maintaining a professional and positive attitude.
  • Must be available to work early morning to early afternoon. 
  • In-depth knowledge of baking techniques and attention to detail. 
  • Demonstrated success in mentoring and leading teams.
  • Strong understanding of food safety standards and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Ensures product consistency and efficiency.
  • Creative flair and passion for baking.
  • Strong sense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks to meet production goals.
