Find your place in finance on #TeamAmex.The Risk Finance team under Corporate Planning (CP&A) is responsible for the planning, forecasting, and analysis of worldwide Loss Provision and Credit Reserves. The team also provides credit-related decision support to Risk Management, regional Finance and business teams on underwriting, customer management, credit and collections activities, etc.This Director Data Science role will lead the Global Data Strategy team within Risk Finance. The primary responsibility of the team is to build and maintain centralized reporting capabilities, implement process improvements and automation, and ultimately drive innovative data solutions to deliver robust forecasts and analytics for the broader Risk Finance organization.ResponsibilitiesLead the strategic analysis of AXP credit metrics, credit provision, and reserve for Senior Management in Risk and FinanceOwn specific data assets / applications within Risk Finance, and become a power user of the relevant tools (troubleshoot issues, reconcile results, identify improvements and automation opportunities, and train other users to drive adoption)Develop and maintain standard and ad hoc reports used by Risk Finance and/or business partners; provide credit related analytical supportDevelop and present key analyses and recommendations to Senior ManagementBuild and maintain relationships across Risk Finance portfolio teams and with partners in Risk, Controllership, Tech, etc.Provide decision-support with a strong emphasis on developing analytics that identify trends and opportunities in the portfolio which can be used to optimize Business and Risk decisions. QualificationsAdvanced Experience working with most of the following is required: SQL/Hive, Power BI/Tableau, Python/R, VBA, TM1 Experience working with an advanced level of Excel and PowerPoint required  Experience in ML modeling is a plusSolid financial and analytical skills; ability to work with large sets of data and draw meaningful conclusions, empowering our business partners to make smart, information-based decisionsSuperior attention to details, along with exemplary organizational and problem-solving skillsMust be results-driven and proactive with the ability to manage multiple projects and work within tight timelinesDesire to work on ambiguous projects, creating clarity while driving successful and meaningful outcomesA strong work-ethic and robust interpersonal skills, showcasing the ability to maintain and build relationships and effectively collaborate with team members to achieve goalsExperience working with an advanced level of Excel and PowerPoint required  Master's degree in advanced mathematics or statistical field requiredQualificationsConsiderations for sponsorship:Depending on factors such as business unit requirements, the nature of the position, cost and applicable laws, American Express may provide visa sponsorship for certain positionsSalary Range: $150,000.00 to $225,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefitsThe above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition.
