Location Overview

Crown is a brand new manufacturing plant in Effingham, South Carolina. This state of the art facility will produce various size food cans for one of South Carolina's leading Food producers.  We are in the process of assembling a dynamic team of individuals. This is your opportunity to join Crown's global organization and we are looking for a Mechanic.

Position Overview

This position will be responsible for maintaining, operating, and monitoring the quality of production lines. This position reports directly to the PM&R Supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities-Essential Functions

  • Start and maintain machines to determine efficiency and quality
  • Monitor and problem solve processes or equipment for quality and productivity
  • Complete quality checks utilizing precision equipment to ensure product is within all control limits
  • Take owner ship of line equipment which includes daily, weekly, and monthly preventive maintenance
  • Diagnose and problem solve mechanical/electrical problems by utilizing blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs
  • Dismantle and reassemble machinery with hand tools, jacks, hoists, and other applicable tools to complete repairs, changeovers, or maintenance work
  • Ability to use and read measuring equipment to make necessary adjustment to machines
  • Own and operate production equipment in accordance with current GMPs and SOPs
  • Adhere to all food safety policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned

 


 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Ability to work 1st or 2nd shift
  • 1-3 years experience working on the preventative maintenance or repair of machinery

Preferred

  • Certification from a technical trade school
  • Previous experience in high-speed manufacturing

Required Knowledge

  • Equipment Maintenance: Knowledge on performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed
  • Mathematics: Basic mathematical skills to include knowledge of working within .001 of an inch
  • Mechanical: Knowledge of machines and tools including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Safety: General knowledge of operating safely on applicable machinery to include forklift operation and lockout-tagout

Required Skills

  • Computer use: Use of computer software to include scanning materials onto outgoing trucks and printing appropriate pallet tags
  • Critical Thinking: Use of logic and reasoning to identify potential solutions or approaches to problems
  • Customer Service: Display customer need assessment and meet quality standards for service to include the needs of team members
  • Monitoring: Monitor and assess performance in yourself, others, and production to make improvements and take corrective action
  • Time Management: Prioritize duties to most efficiently accomplish tasks and maintain productivity
  • Tool Usage: Read and utilize scales, micrometers, dial indicators, and related equipment
  • Troubleshooting: Determining causes of operating errors and identifying solutions

Required Abilities

  • Communication: Ability to read and write English and interpret spoken direction
  • Manual Dexterity: Ability to quickly move the hand, fingers, or two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects
  • Organization: Ability to maintain an organized work area

 

Physical Requirements

  • Occasional keeling, crouching, and climbing required
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Frequent pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying of moderately heavy objects (20-50 lbs)
  • Frequent standing for extended periods

Environmental Exposures

  • Operating machinery produce at least 85 decibels (dB) of noise.
  • The industrial duties of this position may expose the employee to odors, wetness, dirt, and dust.
