Work with CM Group management and others in the Accounting and Finance Department to prepare company financial statements and reports in any one or more of the following areas: tax, regulatory compliance.

**This is a hybrid position that requires two days per week in the office weekly **

Tax

• Prepare/analyze premium tax returns and make annual and installment payments.
• Prepare/analyze corporate income tax returns for select states.
• Prepare/analyze municipal tax filings on a quarterly/annual basis.
• Prepare federal 1099 filings.

Regulatory Compliance

• • Prepare/analyze data request calls for insurance departments, statistical services, rating bureaus, residual market pools, etc.
  • Pay/analyze surcharges and recoupments and reconcile the associated general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare/analyze annual regulatory filings to the state insurance departments.
  • Prepare schedules, as needed, for statutory annual statement.

Miscellaneous

• • Document procedures, as necessary, for the accounting procedure manual.
  • Assist/lead departmental projects.
  • Perform departmental tasks with advanced level of difficulty.
  • Assist with financial and tax audits.
  • Mentor/lead staff accountant positions.

• Bachelor's degree in accounting is required.
• Ability to sit for CPA exam is required.
• Three years' statutory accounting experience preferred.
• Ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines.
• Analytical thinking skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both internal and external.
• Sound judgment and effective decisionmaking skills.
