*Bonus if you have flexibility on Friday or Monday (10am - 3pm)*

Hair of the dog is a high-volume, fast casual brunch/lunch restaurant located in the heart of Downtown Norfolk. We are looking for a Host, expo or support staff to join our team and be the first point of contact for our guests.
A Host/Hostess responsibilities include greeting guests, providing accurate wait times and escorting customers to the dining and bar areas. For this role, you should have solid organizational and people skills to make sure our guests have a positive dining experience from the moment they arrive till their departure. You should also be available to work in shifts.
A Food Expeditor responsibility ensures the smooth and timely flow of orders from waiters to the kitchen, checks dishes for accuracy and presentation, assists in final dish preparation, maintains fast service, handles customer complaints, and upholds quality and sanitation standards.
A Support staff member has the flexibility and knowledge to be able to float in-between both jobs list above.


Qualifications
  • Restaurant experience preferred, but not necessary
  • Must be able to work weekends & holidays
  • Knowledge of basic customer service and pleasant, positive attitude
  • Able to stand for long periods
  • Able to lift at least 20 pounds
  • Good hearing for safety and accurate communication
  • Command of the English language
  • Basic computer skills

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Report to work in full uniform for each shift and being responsible for clock in/out
  • Perform host stand set-up, opening duties, running side work, and closing duties
  • Positive and uplifting first and last impression to our patrons
  • Communicate and seat guests in an organized, professional, and friendly fashion
  • Accept reservations (when applicable) and quote waiting periods per manager's criteria.
  • Attend all employee meetings and bring suggestions for improvement
  • Maintain restaurant safety and sanitation policies
  • Assist in table maintenance when able
  • Work with "teamwork" always in mind.
  • Friendly and courteous telephone manners
  • Keep a clean and professional appearance at all times.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned by the General Manager/Supervisor
