PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

  1. Works in a safe manner and follows all company EH&S rules.
  2. Assist the Maintenance Manager in requisitioning maintenance supplies and maintaining maintenance records and files.
  3. Perform mechanical repair tasks submitted on work orders by production or any other department that are approved by the Maintenance Supervisor with minimum supervision.
  4. Install/modify equipment with minimum supervision from the Maintenance Manager and/or Plant Engineer.
  5. Conduct hazardous waste survey and complete inspection forms when instructed by the Maintenance Manager.
  6. Hazardous waste responsibilities for this position are as follows.
  1. Responsible for safe handling of hazardous materials during performance of maintenance activities.
  2. Responsible for cleanup of wastes and debris resulting from maintenance activities and proper management of the wastes generated.
  3. Responsible for proper handling of hazardous materials and wastes during in plant transportation and storage of these materials.
  4. Responsible for notification of appropriate plant and/or emergency coordinators if and when a hazardous material or waste is spilled during material handling activities.
  1. Responsible for the daily management of facility hazardous and non hazardous waste activity/ equipment when assigned by the Maintenance Manager and/or Plant Engineer.
  2. Perform routine work with no supervision, such as chrome roll, rubber roll and extruder screen pack changes, die settings/cleaning, and bearing replacement.
  3. Troubleshoots any malfunction on production equipment and facility equipment with minimum supervision.
  4. Knows complete layout and function of plant fire protection equipment. Responsible for knowing and implementing procedures required by the insurance company when fire protection system or components of system are taken out of service.
  5. Responsible for checking air compressors for proper operation during your shift.
  6. Must be familiar with all types of lubrication used in the plant and where the various types are use. Responsible for lubricating all machine oilers/sliders during your shift.
  7. Responsible for removing and cleaning all equipment and trash from the work area when a maintenance job has been completed.
  8. Responsible for using Maintenance shop tools and equipment properly on all production equipment, such as bearing pullers.
  9. Responsible for grinding all slitter/extruder knives and back-up drums that are dull.
  10. Responsible for thoroughly checking/repairing production equipment during scheduled maintenance functions and informing the Maintenance Supervisor of any potential problems not repairable during allotted preventative maintenance time.
  11. Operates lift truck for maintenance purposes.
  12. Responsible for following company safety procedures and policies in the course of daily activities.
  13. Responsible for keeping the Maintenance shop facilities and equipment clean and orderly at all times.
  14. Responsible for identifying existing or potential problems and taking appropriate actions to prevent or reduce production equipment downtime for corrective maintenance.
  15. Responsible for managing the production roller tracking program in accordance with management issued procedures.
  16. Trained to operate all Maintenance Department welding and cutting equipment. Trained in 1F, 2F, 3F, and 4F weld positions.
  17. Responsible for weld layout and fabrication of projects/job task assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor and/or Plant Engineer. Performs these projects/job tasks from oral and written instructions.
  18. Fire duty responsibility is shut off main gas valve.
  19. Annual training required in hazardous waste management, including contingency plan implementation and effective response to hazardous waste emergencies as defined by this facility's LA DEQ approved plan. This training will be conducted by either the Plant EH&S Coordinator or a qualified outside contractor.
  20. It is your responsibility to follow the procedures and policies that are defined in this facilities Hazardous Waste Management plan during your daily duties that include handling, storage, or transporting hazardous waste at this facility. You are also responsible for following the procedures and polices that are defined in this facilities contingency plan during an emergency or spill of hazardous waste.
  21. This position indirectly affects the quality of the finished product in that many of the responsibilities of this position can influence the quality of the finished product. Management is committed to improving the quality of goods and services through the philosophy of “total quality management”.
  22. Must follow all SOP, WI, and GMP’s for food product safety per ASI requirements.
  23. Initiates ideas and develops proposals for improving quality of everything we do as measured by customers and for reducing costs, in order to make the Division more competitive in the marketplace.
  24. Performs other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or Plant Manager.

Working Conditions:

Both inside and outside of facility. Inside conditions range from extremely hot in the summer to cold in the winter. Sometimes required to perform duties outside in the rain, extremely hot weather, and extremely cold weather.

Skills Required:

Public relations, telephone skills, operating/using all types of industrial equipment and tools, operating office equipment (calculators, typewriters, computers), organizational skills, cross-trained.
