Johnson County Wastewater (JCW) is looking to fill the position of Customer Service Representative I or II, depending on candidate qualifications. Depending on relevant years of experience, we are recruiting for:
Customer Service Specialist (Customer Service I) - job grade 13.13 pay range $20.60 to $27.87 OR
Customer Service Specialist (Customer Service II) - job grade 14.14 pay range $22.73 to $30.75
- Actively work to promote a positive view of Johnson County Government and JCW by professionally assisting County residents including educating them about services and billing.
- Communicates verbally and in writing with JCW customers to resolve discrepancies and exchange or update information; explains billing rules and policies; explain JCW services; collect past due balances; and establish payment arrangements.
- Calculates and collects fees for payment; resolves a variety of routine and complex customer complaints, problems, and billing disputes.
- Reviews, reconciles, compiles, tracks, and processes accounts receivable transactions involving cash, receipts, invoices, and other similar items for approval; completes preliminary audit of cash and checks collected; researches and corrects bookkeeping errors and discrepancies to ensure accurate application of payment.
- Utilizes spreadsheets, formulas, and basic mathematics to calculate adjustments to utility bills.
- Delivers positive and professional customer service in a fast-paced environment.
Minimum Job Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent is required. May require KS/MO driver's license, depending on department or agency. One year of customer service; one year of cashiering or money handling experience are required. Proficiency utilizing computers and standard software in an office setting is also required.
Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department/Agency.
Preferred Job Requirements:
Associate's degree is preferred. Experience in a call center environment, bookkeeping or accounting support experience is preferred
Education/Experience Substitutions:
Experience may be substituted for degree. Education may be substituted for experience.
All County employees may be called upon to assist other departments in a declared emergency situation.
